'Bdbeatslayer' Bests Record Setting Sunday Million Field

This past Sunday saw 59,128 players pony up $215 and take to the virtual felt in hopes of grabbing a piece of the PokerStars Sunday Million 5th Anniversary $5million guaranteed prize pool. In reality, the prize pool more than doubled the guarantee and eventually $11,825,600 was up for grabs with the top two finishers becoming instant millionaires. However, it didn't quite play out like that!

As soon as the final table was set, talks of a 9-way chop set the chat box alight. 'Battmeister', who was the shortstack entering the final table was understandably very eager to lock in a chip chop deal since 9th place originally paid just over $40k whereas the chip chop would secure him over $260k. It doesn't say much for the structure of the event that the best player at the table and eventual winner, 'Bdbeatslayer' was willing to give up $5k of his original allotted share to the chipleader to help speed up deal proceedings although we're confident he won't be complaining. They eventually settled on the following payouts, leaving a Lamborghini Gallardo on the table for the winner:

wrzr123 (Germany) $844,209.87
Syndrome1977 (Germany) $799,842.09
Bdbeatslayer (USA) $671,093,81
zeurr (Netherlands) $518,402.33
sheppyshape (UK) $465,647.02
nhar818 (USA) $441,541.06
guccyka (Hungary) $411,090.13
Jan10004 (Norway) $311,023.33
Battmeister (USA) $263,888.06

Around 90 minutes after the deal was struck 'Bdbeatslayer' defeated 'sheppyshape' heads-up to become the 5th Anniversary Sunday Million champion and walk away with his brand new Lamborghini Gallardo and just over $670k in cash. Not a bad days work, eh?

Today it was revealed that one of the Super Sunday 9 is in jeopardy of losing his prize. A Dutch newspaper was keen to interview their native 'zeurr' but only managed to speak to his father who claimed he was the one playing on the account. It turns out that 'zeurr' is allegedly just 17 years of age and was posting on Twitter under his own name on the night of tournament, only to change his information later on. He is therefore in breach of PokerStars' terms of service that requires all players to be at least 18 years old. If confiscated, the prize will be redistributed to the players who cashed in the tournament.
